John Hiatt at The Grand Magnolia in Pascagoula, MS
On the evening of Monday, June 17, 2024, singer-songwriter John Hiatt performed at The Grand Magnolia Ballroom in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The sold-out show was another successful live music showcase at the very popular music venue that has welcomed such music artists as J.D. Souther, The Bellamy Brothers, Lee Roy Parnell, Rodney Crowell, Deana Carter, Michael Martin Murphy, John Conlee, Mac McAnally, Jimmy Buffett, and many others. The Southland Music Line has featured The Grand Magnolia in several articles and photo collections.
John Hiatt has a long and cherished history of songwriting, performing, and recording incredible music. Numerous songs by Hiatt, including “Have a Little Faith in Me,” “Memphis in the Meantime,” and “Thing Called Love,” have been covered by some of music’s top recording artists. The multi-Grammy nominated Hiatt has received many honors such as Songwriter/Artist of the Year at the 2000 Nashville Music Awards, the Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting by the Americana Music Association in 2008, and the BMI Troubador Award in 2019.
The Southland Music Line has enjoyed attending Hiatt’s shows since our first opportunity at The Bottom Line in New York City in the 1980s. We have also had the pleasure of attending numerous shows by his daughter, Lilly.
The Grand Magnolia show featured special guest Libby Rae Watson, a talented friend who we have featured at The Southland Music Line for many years. Watson has performed worldwide and is regularly found at some of the country’s top blues festivals.
We encourage everyone to visit the Grand Magnolia website for information about future shows. Stephen “Andy” Anderson took the following photos (page designed & edited by Johnny Cole).
