Great day!!!!! Weather was nice and music was incredible. For starters The Southland Music Line’s Johnny Cole, Stephen Anderson (photographer) & Robby Amonett (artist) were all at the “12th Ever Shedhed Fest”. The festival turned out to be a winner with some incredible performances including Lightnin’ Malcolm & Stud. We’ve seen Lightnin’ Malcolm many times, but Saturday evening’s performance was quite possibly the best we’ve heard from him. Stud continues to prove himself as a drummer to be reckoned with; And the festival ended with one of the best performances we’ve ever seen at The Shed in Ocean Springs, MS (aka Hwy 57-I-10 Crossroads) – Royal Southern Brotherhood. We were also fortunate enough to see them recently at Bogalusa Blues & Heritage Festival. They consist of Cyril Neville (Neville Brothers; The Meters), drummer Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band; Yonrico Scott Band), Charlie Wooten (one heck of a bassist; ZABADODAT and Zydefunk!), guitarist and vocal powerhouse Bart Walker (a name to remember) and Tyrone Vaughan (also highly impressive. He is son of Jimmie Vaughan and nephew of Stevie Ray Vaughan). All were kind & took time with fans following show despite having lots to do afterwards. We were impressed with that! Another cool thing about their performance was Lightnin’ Malcolm joining them on some songs.

Also performing to a crowd of music fans was Blackwater Brass, Brooks Hubbert & Sirius Face, Jamel Richardson, Golden Dawn Arkestra and a multiple group of musicians “Fellman, Mooney, Murphy, Weldon & Friends” performing a set.

A big round of thanks goes out to friend Fred Salinas, The Orrison Family & Everyone at The Shed.

Stephen and Johnny did briefly head over to Murky Waters to see the first set by Seth Walker w/ Myles Weeks & Eric Bolivar AND some from Lisa Mills just down the street. Then returned to The Shed for RSB. Robby painted every performance at The Shed. Great night of music!!!!!

Fri. Oct. 9, 2015
Kacey Musgraves performed at Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans. Opening the show was Humming House. This turned out to be one of the year’s best shows! Earlier this year, we had the privilege of seeing Musgraves at Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic in Austin, TX.

Thur. Oct. 8, 2015
A GREAT NIGHT OF MUSIC AT CALLAGHAN’S!!!!
The Line’s Stephen, Robby & Johnny were at Callaghan”s in Mobile, AL to see longtime friend John Calvin Abney and new friend Levi Parham perform. The last couple times we’ve seen John was at Thirsty Hippo in Hattiesburg and SXSW in Austin. It was great to see John and Levi perform at the famous Callaghan’s (a place their Oklahoma buddy John Moreland has performed a few times).

ALSO A BIG THANK YOU TO JOHN CALVIN ABNEY for the kind gift. It was thoughtful of him. He is one of the nicest musicians we’ve met in recent years. It’s always nice seeing him wherever its at: Austin, Mississppi Gulf Coast, Hattiesburg, MS, Mobile, AL or maybe next time East Nashville – its always a pleasure.

Mon. Oct. 5, 2015
Another Monday night at Ben Kaufman’s Irish Coast Pub for the always exciting Monday Night Jam Sessions. Eddie Dixon and Stafan Lawson performed together one more time before Eddie heads back to Chicago. Eddie is an amazingly talented musician and will be missed on Monday nights at Irish Coast Pub’s always enjoyable Jam Sessions. The Line’s Johnny Cole had the privilege of doing two Stefan Lawson’s Coastal Noise podcasts with Eddie. Lots of fun!  Every time I see a Melodica, I’ll think of Eddie Dixon – anyone who brings one to a jam session gets my vote as one of the coolest musicians around.

Sat. Oct. 3, 2015
Alabama and music great Russell Gulley performed at Jack’s by the Tracks in Pascagoula, MS. He along with Britt Meacham and Dennis Gulley put on one heck of good show.

Cary Hudson at Jacks by the Tracks (Fri. Sept. 11, 2015)
Thur. Sept. 10, 2015
The Line had highly been anticipating seeing Lauren Murphy and Luther Wamble perform. When we first got word these two would be uniting for some shows, we loved the idea and definitely made plans to be at some of the upcoming dates.  We had seen Lauren perform at a private show in June at Leslie Mulcahy’s farm near Fairhope, AL (She opened show for Sugarcane Jane). We are longtime fans of Luther Wamble – an amazing guitarist and beloved musician across the region. These two talents performing together turned out even better than expected. We highly recommend!

Click Here for several photos taken of the Jack’s by the Tracks show.

Wed. Sept. 9, 2015
The Line’s Johnny Cole (writer), Stephen Anderson (photographer) and Robby Amonett (artist) were all at Callaghan’s in Mobile, AL to see the Austin-based Uncle Lucius (We had seen them earlier in 2015 at SXSW and in recent article about Callaghan’s mentioned them as one of the bands/musicians we would love see come to Callaghan’s)  They are one heck of a band and there’s no wonder why they are seeing their fanbase continually grow.

Click Here for several photos taken of their Callaghan’s show.

Mon. Sept. 7, 2015

Fri. Sept. 4, 2015
Part One:
Phil Proctor performed at Jack’s by the Tracks in Pascagoula, MS. He was later joined during second set by Sara and Danny “Toad” Smith. It was the kind of show where you are able to kick back and take the music in without the thought of any worries. Good music!

Part Two:
Paul Kirkland’s band Crazy Uncle (with a huge and revolving cast of players) delivered a good show with a distinct, interesting and promising blend of rock. It was heard later, they were disappointed with how some of it sounded to them, but as a listener it kept the attention and the packed house at The Julep Room seemed to enjoy.
