On the evening of Thursday, January 19, 2023, a reception celebrating the opening of two art exhibits was held at the Rodning Gallery of Art on the campus of the University of South Alabama. The exhibits: Abe Partridge’s “Floating Away” and Robby Amonett’s “Capturing Sound” were attended by many admirers and fans of their great work. It was an evening of art, music, friends, food and fun….a wonderful display of Partridge’s fascinating and latest style of art showcasing watercolors and Amonett’s unique style of capturing live music with his paintbrushes.

Both men just returned from this year’s 30A Songwriters Festival in the Florida panhandle where Amonett painted numerous performances during the event while Partridge, a rising star in Americana music, showcased his original songwriting. At the Friday night reception at the University of South Alabama, Robby painted Abe’s performance as guests observed both men’s creativity in person.

The Southland Music Line has been covering Abe Partridge with many articles and photo collections since the early days of his adventures in music and art. In fact, he was our 2018 Music Artist of the Year. He has traveled the globe with his original music and acclaimed art which has gained international attention. Most recently, he has added painting with watercolors as showcased at the Rodning Gallery exhibit.

Robby Amonett is a longtime friend to the Gulf Coast music scene and a celebrated artist. Amonett’s work has been displayed at several galleries and art shows across the region. He is also a co-founder of The Southland Music Line, established in 2013.

These works of art will be on display at the Rodning Gallery of Art for the next few weeks and can be viewed by the public. We want to congratulate Abe Partidge and Robby Amonett on their exhibits and wish them continued success.

The Mary Elizabeth and Charles Bernard Rodning Gallery of Art is located on the third floor of the University of South Alabama’s Marx Library at 5901 USA North Drive in Mobile, Alabama.
