The sounds of a carnival barker introducing us to the Joey Cook & The Partyraddlers 2016 album “Welcome to the Variety Show” proves to be an original and ideal way to pull listeners into a colorful mixture of tunes that blend nicely together.
This month we are privileged to spotlight the album by Joey Cook & The Partyraddlers (released this past May). The originality of Joey Cook’s album gives her fans reason to be pleased. The album, alongside her playful, energetic and wildly entertaining live shows on her most recent tour, takes Joey Cook beyond just another American Idol finalist (she reached Top 7 in A.I.’s 14th season) attempting to release the standard album that is often expected. The Virginia born artist is now based out of New Orleans – the perfect place for Joey and her original style and persona.
We recently caught up with Joey Cook & The Partyraddlers at The Julep Room in Ocean Springs, MS on Dec. 3. Over the course of the past year, Joey has been recommended to The Southland Music Line by quite a few friends and our own Stephen Anderson took some fabulous photos of Joey’s previous visit to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Joey Cook joins fellow New Orleans musicians Renshaw Davies and Darcy Malone & The Tangle as one of our favorites to be introduced to us in 2016.
