“A live music event doesn’t seem official until Robby Amonett shows up.” – This is a common statement said about the gifted artist whom has become a much loved figure along the Gulf Coast/Deep South/New Orleans region.

In 2016, Robby Amonett continued to paint live performances of musicians who have entertained music fans across the area. Amonett attends nearly 250 shows and does approximately 350+ paintings each year.

The Southland Music Line has featured a number of articles highlighting Robby Amonett. His impressive list of music artists that he has painted includes Alabama Shakes, Jason Isbell, Billy Joe Shaver, Dr. John, Jim Lauderdale and numerous others.

2016 was no different from past years. He had the good fortune of painting the great Robert Earl Keen. Keen commissioned Robby to paint himself and Lyle Lovett. This painting of Keen and Lovett was to be used for tour promotion. Robby said it was one of his many highlights of 2016.

Amonett has painted at several music events including The Piney Woods Picnic near Hattiesburg, MS, 1065 Festival in Mobile, AL, and Ocean Springs Live in Ocean Springs, MS.

The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farm in Silverhill, AL also serves as a picturesque locale for Robby to paint. Throughout the spring and fall seasons, he can be seen at “The Frog Pond” and has painted a majority of shows at this glorious place.

“Gal Holiday and The Honky Tonk Revue” at The Listening Room by Robby Amonett

During 2016, Robby has put together some successful art shows featuring the themes

“More Scenes of a Scene” and “Synthesis of Soul”. In December, his paintings were on display at The Listening Room in Mobile, AL.

Some of the music venues where Robby can be seen frequently painting: Callaghan’s Irish Social Club, The Listening Room, The Merry Widow, Manci’s Antique Club, (all in Alabama), Jack’s by the Tracks, The Government Street Grocery, The Juke Joint, The Julep Room, Thirsty Hippo (all in Mississippi) and Tipitina’s, Chickie Wah Wah and others in Louisiana. These are just a sample of where he can be found.

In the spring of the year, Robby Amonett was featured in an episode of TV’s “Music Scene”. The segment detailed Robby painting at a Seth Walker show at Callaghan’s in Mobile, AL. The interview took place in historic downtown Pascagoula, MS. .

In the midst of a very busy year, Robby also branched out from his paintings and art when he was asked to join Abe Partridge & the Psychedelic Peacocks as the band’s bassist. It was a nice change for the artist.

Robby Amonett looks forward to 2017 and will obviously remain a huge part of the music scene. He is more than just an artist or musician…. he is seen by many as a dear friend.
